It has taken us ten months but we finally have a gin from our home continent! Paper Lantern Gin is truly grain from glass, and one of the few gins to use rice as a base spirit! This is perhaps inevitable when you distill your gin in one of the world's largest rice producers; Vietnam. All but one of the eight botanicals used in Paper Lantern are produced in South-East Asia. The odd ingredient is the mighty juniper berry, which cannot be grown at any reasonable scale in the region.
Simin & her husband explored Asia in the quest to find the best botanicals in the region to best represent the flavours of Vietnam and the surrounding areas. During their adventures they came across flavours you might not expect in a traditional gin such as makhwaen & galangal.
In their 4 years of operation Paper Lantern has pick up awards through Asia & Globally and represent the region internationally.
